Meet Bill Harrison. Bill Has been volunteering with AseraCare for 11 years. He started as a music volunteer, playing favorite hymns and oldies for people at one of the facilities AseraCare serves. Most recently, he has been focused on the Vet to Vet volunteering, providing recognition to our veterans. He is overwhelmed by the “gratitude and respect I have every time I see a vet in hospice and who served in the Korean War, the Vietnam War, or WWII. I can only imagine the suffering, pain and loneliness they went through. I learned a lot about this generation from the stories they would tell and how they should be treasured.”
Bill is a retired information technology analyst and also an Air Force vet, having served during the Vietnam war. Bill’s current interests are playing the guitar, outdoor photography, training his new puppy and collecting rare gems and minerals. The “Rock Hound” goes to the Tucson Gem and Mineral show every year and often hunts for gems in the mountains of Arizona. His collection includes a fossil that is 30 million years old, a poison rock and a radioactive rock with Uranium. He has been married 27 years and has four wonderful daughters (and a new puppy).
His favorite song lyric is from “I Can Only Imagine” by Mercy Me.
“Surrounded by Your glory/ What will my heart feel/ Will I dance for you Jesus/ Or in awe of You be still/ Will I stand in your presence/ Or to my knees will I fall/ Will I sing hallelujah/ Will I be able to speak at all/ I can only imagine.”
We, at AseraCare, are so grateful for the joy he brings!
