Create More Moments to Remember

A Butterfly to Remember Events

After adopting the butterfly as a symbol of hope and transition, we began these events in 2013 as a way to recognize and help families of patients with their grieving process.

What is it?

These events offer an opportunity for friends, family and community members to join AseraCare Hospice in learning about former patients and honoring their legacy with the release of butterflies, bubbles or doves.

When and where?

These events are held at AseraCare Hospice agencies all across the country and, while they always take place during the summer, each celebration is unique to its location.

We Honor Veterans Program

To provide the best care possible to those who’ve served our country, we’re proud to be a part of the We Honor Veterans program offered by the National Hospice and Palliative Care Organization (NHPCO) in collaboration with the Department of Veteran Affairs. As proof of our commitment, every AseraCare Hospice agency has achieved Level 4 We Honor Veterans status. In addition, we are also proud to offer:

Pinning Ceremonies

By working with the local community, we can honor our vets and officially thank them — many for the first time — with a ceremony where they are pinned and given an official letter of gratitude for their service.

Vet-to-Vet Volunteer Program

This program aims to pair veteran volunteers with patients who are also vets. This allows our volunteers to connect with and relate to the patient, adding an extra level of comfort in the process.

Volunteer Programs

Every year, more than 450,000 volunteers provide 20+ million hours of service to hospice agencies around the country who share things like:
Companionship
Something as simple as talking, playing cards or reading a book can make a big difference in someone’s life.
Music
Our talented volunteers make everyone’s day when they share their gift with our patients.
Pets
Some agencies have trained volunteers with certified pets that can help bring patients joy, companionship and stress relief.
Sewing Circles
From pillowcases to walker totes, what they make is almost as important as the process of making it together.
Baked Goods
Volunteer “celebration bakers” make sure there is plenty of sweetness to aid in birthdays and special occasions.
Life Reviews
Volunteers can help patients capture and reflect on their memories for a recorded history their families will treasure.
Vigil
Sometimes the best gift you can give is your presence. These volunteers make sure patients nearing the end are never alone.
